Today I turn 10 years old!

Today is the 10th anniversary for the Air Transat "incident" on Flight AT-236. For my family (including the 300+ people on board) and I, today is a very special day. We stared death in the eye then somehow were given a new lease on life. I truly have appreciated ever second I've had since that day and am thankful for whatever time I have left.

I'm so lucky to have married such an amazing woman who loves me unconditionally and I get to wake up every day and do what I love. I have a wonderful family which I love very much. I'm glad we were all able to unsay our goodbyes 10 years ago this date. I'm also very thankful for all the friends and amazing people that make life so freaking awesome!

There are times that it's easy to get caught up in the day to day and forget to appreciate what all that I have. It's days like today that ground and humble me to my absolute core.

I wrote about my experience last year for the first time. You can read it here if you're interested. There are a few documentaries that were made, two of the better ones were National Greographic and Dateline. You can see the NG video on youtube, it's a 6 part series if you are bored and have the time

My sweet wife bought me the dvd of the movie they made on the heroic pilot Robert Piche. To be honest, I've tucked it away and was hoping to watch it for the first time with mom, dad, sis and wife. Although my family is not here I have decided I'm watching it tonight. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be an emotional wreck but it's time.

To all the survivors, cheers, and to everyone else, cheers as well.
